Patricia K Slocum

Pat grew up in Crystal Falls, Michigan daughter to Ward J. and Flora J. Kelly. She received her Bachelor of Laws and Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School, and was licensed to counsel before the Illinois State Supreme Court. She practiced in the Chicago area specializing in labor law, an early trendsetter for women in the field although she never considered herself so. She went on to pursue a successful business career with her husband Ed and raised a family in California.

She was the kind of Mom everyone would want to have. Nurturing, patient, a go-to for ear aches and skinned knees. Pat was a lifelong supporter of the military family and was known affectionately as “Mrs. Claus” to squadrons of military aviators.

Pat was preceded in life by her husband of 40 years Edwin and her sister Charlotte, and her spirit is carried on by her sons Hoyt Slocum and Mark Slocum, her grandchildren Ava & Michael, and great grandchildren Rex and Rocco. Dad is probably flying her around right now showing her the clouds.

Visitation will be held at Jacobs Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls, MI on Sunday, June 15th at 2014 from 10:00-11:00 AM, 909 Crystal Avenue, Crystal Falls, MI 49920, (906) 875-3072. Flowers are welcome.
