He grew up in Waterford. Patrick joined the Marines and served his Country honorably in the Vietnam War. He always joked that the Marines made him a truck driver because he had an incredible amount of points on his driver’s license when he went into service – he knew how to drive fast and “get out of dodge”.
Post Marines, Patrick worked for the airlines – first for Hughes Air West, then Republic, then Northwest. He lived in California, Arizona and back again in Michigan during this time. He then went on to live in Virginia and finally back to Arizona. Patrick made friends wherever he went, and everyone always spoke of him as a good man. He had a kind heart.
Patrick passed away on September 1, 2015, in Phoenix, Arizona, after battling early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, and subsequent complications.
Mr. McGinnis is survived by his wife, Marty; stepson, Bill Lage (Mandy); two daughters, Sarah Ahrens (James) and Meghan DeCell (David); son, Jason McGinnis; three stepgrandchildren, Hudson, Hayden, McKenna; 5 granddaughters: Teagan, Quinn, Alexis, Madeleine and Genevieve; two sisters, Betsy McGinnis and Nancy Campbell; brother, Mike McGinnis; and a niece, nephews, and many friends.
A graveside service will be held Monday, September 14th, at 9:30 AM, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix.
