

Peter VanderLugt, 94, of Phoenix Arizona went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2015. He was welcomed into his heavenly home by his wife of 67 years, Doris. He is survived by his 4 children, Karen Holt (Randy), Judy Blackford (Bruce), Joe VanderLugt, (Gayle) and Jan McClintock as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Peter was born in Minnesota on June 12, 1921 and was the second of 8 boys born to Teunis and Hattie VanderLugt. He was 1 of 5 brothers to proudly serve during WWII. Peter was a Marine in the Pacific Theatre and fought on Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. He received the Purple Heart for in juries sustained during the battle on Saipan. He retired from Park Central Medical Buildings after 25 years of service. His life was defined by his faith in Jesus Christ as evidenced by his wisdom, humility and devotion to his family, friends and everyone he met. He was such an inspiration and example to all of us and he will be greatly missed.
Memorial Service will be September 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Phoenix Christian Reformed Church, 2438 E. Earll Drive, Phoenix.
