Born on February 12, 1983, in Phoenix, Arizona, Renee made her home in Peoria, where she touched countless lives through her unwavering dedication to her family, her students, and her community.
Renee’s greatest joy was her family. She was the beloved wife of Sam Underwood and the proud mother of Madden and Ezra, whom she adored beyond measure. She was also the cherished daughter of Diane and David, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and hard work.
A lifelong athlete and mentor, Renee dedicated her career to coaching gymnastics, where she inspired young athletes to believe in themselves, push their limits, and embrace their passion for the sport. Her patience, encouragement, and ability to bring out the best in others made her a beloved coach and mentor to many.
Beyond the gym, Renee was an adventurer at heart. She loved traveling, exploring new places, and creating unforgettable memories with her loved ones. Music was the soundtrack to her life, and she found joy in every beat. Fitness was not just a profession but a lifestyle that she embraced with enthusiasm and dedication.
Renee’s warmth, energy, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she so freely gave.
If you would like to honor Renee’s memory, in lieu of flowers, please give in her name to Heart for the City, an Organization that works with at-risk inner city kids through sports, mentoring, education and much much more. Renee loved encouraging and working with kids! Give at HeartfortheCityAZ.org
Rest in peace, Renee. Your light will never fade.
'That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.'
