

Bailey, Richard Eugene 83, passed away on June 6, 2014. Richard was born on December 28, 1929 to Helen and James Bailey in Westerville, OH. Richard E. Bailey attained at Otterbein College, B.A.; United Theological Seminary, M. Divinity at; and at The Ohio State University, M.A. and PhD. He served as a pastor in parishes of the United Methodist Church 1954- 1966. He was a professor of Speech Communication at the University of Rhode Island 1967- 1995. During his tenure he served as Chairman of his department and assistant dean. He was chairman of the Year of the Humanities, 1987. He published many professional articles during his career. He authored “Understanding Self and Others in the Postmodern World”, a self-help book for people who want to think about the truth, and how to express it and understand others who may see the truth as different, 2013.
Richard was an avid golfer, an enthusiastic fan of The Ohio State University football program and enjoyed the meeting of the Board at 3 o’clock.
He loved his family and we love him. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and David Williams; his son Robert Bailey; and grandsons, William and Joshua Wallace and Zackery Bailey. He also has his sisters and brother-in laws, Pauline and Dale Rough and Wanda and Herb Hoover; and their children and grandchildren
The memorial service will be held on Friday 13, 2014 at Phoenix Memorial Park at 1:00 pm. There is a memorial web page on which you may leave comments.
