Sharon Warne departed this world on May 11th, 2026, just one week before her 87th birthday. Sharon was born on May 18th, 1939, to Helmuth and Helen Aldag, Baak. She grew up in Sioux City, Iowa with her sister, Barbara, and attended East High School.
Mom met her future husband by chance, when he stopped in Sioux City on his way home to Minnesota after leaving the Air Force, Mom's parents greeted dad in his uniform at church on that fortunate Sunday morning and they introduced him to their daughter. Mom married Leland Warne on June 1st, 1958, in Sioux City. They had a daughter and a son. The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1964 where they remained for more than 20 years. Mom ran her household with great pride where nothing was ever out of place, the laundry was always done, and shoes were never worn indoors. Mom was a phenomenal cook and would often begin cooking dinner early in the afternoon making a 3-course meal for an ordinary weeknight. Mom also had a knack for decorating the house each month based on the holiday that month. She made elaborate holiday meals where we used the ‘good’ china and silver, and the plastic covering was removed from the furniture in the living room where no one dared to enter unless it was a holiday.
After dad retired early, they began to travel extensively, usually taking cruises around the world. We used to joke that mom, and dad only came home to do their laundry and pack fresh suitcases. Dad passed about four years ago, and mom continued to live by herself and enjoy her home. Having a beautiful home remained important to mom right up to the end of her life when Mom fell ill and passed quickly. We are grateful that she did not suffer long
Sharon will be buried next to Leland in Phoenix. She leaves behind 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren with a sixth great grandchild due soon.
