Sylvia Virginia Leggiere

Sylvia Leggiere 87, passed away on December 22, 2019. Sylvia was born December 02, 1932 to Fannie and George Canahai in Depew, NY and has been a resident of Phoenix since 1963. Our beloved Sylvia is survived by her children, Lynette (Scott) Peelman and Son Mark (Stacey) Leggiere, 6 grandchildren, Brittany Marie, Nicholas, John, Britney Nicole, Matthew and Sarah and her 4 great grandchildren Emery, Kadyn, Indie and Hunter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.

Sylvia lived an amazing life. She worked as a Librarian in her youth. It was a job she truly loved. She met the love of her life Dan and married 07/4/1958. The two of them traveled all over the United States for Dan’s job. Oh, the adventures the two of them had. Phoenix became a home base for them in 1963 and in 1970 they returned permanently to raise their children here. All that knew Sylvia loved her. She was a very warm and entertaining person. She was a lover of all animals. She was one of the best cooks you could find. All her recipes were made with love and could never be duplicated. Nothing was measured out, all was done with a little of this and that. Sylvia was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord with all her heart. We all feel such a loss with our dear Sylvia’s departure but we rest assured she is with our Lord Jesus Christ and her beloved Dan.

All services will be held at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary at 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85027. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4 – 8 PM, and the funeral service will be on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 12:30 PM, immediately followed by a graveside service.
