Tylor Ardorant Scott Harris, born on September 27, 1988, in Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on October 18, 2024, at the age of 36. He was on an Amtrak train in Santa Barbara County, California, returning home after completing an awe-inspiring 2,600-mile journey on the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. Tylor reached the trail’s northern terminus under the glow of the Aurora Borealis, a sight that moved him deeply. He passed away from a pulmonary embolism, caused by numerous bilateral blood clots in his lungs and an enlarged heart.
Tylor had a quiet confidence that drew people to him, paired with an insatiable curiosity that led him to explore and learn about a wide range of topics. He found joy in helping others and serving his friends and community in any way he could. A true craftsman at heart, Tylor loved fixing things and finding new life in what was old, often choosing to repair and renew rather than replace.
Tylor was a talented cook, a baker, and an avid home fermenter, finding comfort and creativity in the kitchen. A lover of poetry, he had a collection of poetry books that reflected his eclectic taste, just like his love for unique underground music and diverse art styles. Tylor was a member of the Phoenix Botanical Gardens, where he often enjoyed simply sitting among the plants, finding peace in nature’s presence. He also cherished time in the mountains, camping and fishing, embracing the quiet solitude of the outdoors.
He was strong in mind and body, with a quiet confidence evident to those who knew him. A friend from the Pacific Crest Trail remarked on his resilience and his steadfast determination to reach the end, noting that he "knew he was going to make it." Modest and down-to-earth, Tylor knew how to listen deeply, speaking only when his words could offer a fresh perspective or insight. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone, carrying a gentle soul and a calming presence that brought peace to those around him.
Serving others was Tylor’s true purpose in life, a calling he fulfilled to the fullest. His kindness, humility, and dedication to helping those around him left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Tylor’s quiet strength, loyalty, and compassion will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who were blessed to know him.
Tylor is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Renee; his twin brother, Cass; his younger brother, Jeremy; his younger sister, Chante'; his older half-sister, Amber; his grandfather; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with countless friends who were touched by his kindness and friendship.
