Verda Daniels was born in Edson KS, Jan 18, 1913. She was the youngest girl from a family of 14 children. At 17, she married Edwin Lohr from Hill City, KS. She started a home and family there until the Dust Bowl pushed them westward in 1935. Verda, Ed and daughter Shirley, age 3, arrived in Phoenix, AZ that September. After World War II, they completed building their home on Clarendon Ave. This is where Verda lived until the Fall of 2010. They also built a summer home in Pine, AZ, the original metal building was up and occupied in 1959. Additional construction and additions followed through the mid 70's. Many friends and family will remember gathering, playing and partying there for more than 50 years! Verda was a homemaker, a special assistant to Ed's building projects and was proudly employed by the voter registration department of Maricopa County for more than 10 years! Verda is survived by her one daughter, 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Grandma Verda will be greatly missed by all of us as well as a number of nieces, nephews and remaining friends! Her most recent years were spent at Huger Mercy Living Center. Our family would like to thank the many caregivers there....as well as the Hospice of the Valley nurses that assisted her and made her comfortable during these recent months. There will be a brief graveside service for Verda on Jan 17, 2017 at 1:00pm at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 N 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
