She was the daughter of the late William Harrison Abercrombie and Nellie Powers Abercrombie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Nellie Couch, Virginia Kuykendall, Allie Mae Kelley, Bill Abercrombie, Mary Abercrombie and James Lewis as well as nephews Don Kelley and Richard Kelley and great-nephew, Josh Waters.
She is survived by her nephew and guardian of the last 10 years Dr. William Terry Kelley (Christine) of Waynesville, NC as well as nieces Reba Miller (Ron) of Raleigh, NC, Ginger Waters (Robbie) of Inman, SC, and nephews Harrison Abercrombie (Kay) of Walhalla, SC, John Abercrombie (Tracy) of Chapin, SC, Edward Abercrombie (Linda) of Fairview, TN and Shane Robbins of Puerto Rico. Betty enjoyed reading and was a master puzzle worker. She loved gospel music and often spent her days enjoying these hobbies. She loved seeing family members and always asked about Terry’s twin grandchildren and his dog when he visited. We all remember playing cards with Betty and having her read to us when we were children.
The family would like to thank the staff of both RHA and Valley Hill Health and Rehab for their care of Betty over the last many years.
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, SC on Saturday, March 7 at 3:00 pm. The family will be at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until shortly before the service to receive friends. Dillard Memorial Funeral Home in Pickens is in charge of Betty’s care.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills (1074 Ozone Drive, Saluda, NC 28773), Gideons International (P.O. Box 634, Waynesville, NC 28786) or Valley Hill Health & Rehab patient fund (1510 Hebron Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28739).
