Bobby Joe Lawing

Bobby Joe Lawing, 81, husband of Fairy Moser Lawing, passed from this life on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Mr. Lawing was born in Maiden, NC, a son of the late Joe Grover and Grace Flona Curlee Lawing. He was a graduate of Maiden High School and Limestone College. Mr. Lawing was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Ryobi in Pickens as a supervisor and was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church where he was a scout leader, Bible Drill leader, participated in other children’s activities of the church. His favorite job was substitute teaching and working with children. Mr. Lawing was a member of The American Legion and he was a Mason and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Fairy Moser Lawing of the home, sons, Joey Lawing and his wife, Marigale of Birmingham, AL and Lee Lawing and his partner, Clint Kendrick of Seattle, WA, a granddaughter, Lindsey Lawing and a grandson, Cole Hendricks. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, April 11, 2015 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with Mr. Jeff Haley officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the chapel. A private burial will be held.
