Carlene Crabtree

Born in Crossville, Tennessee to the late Cecil and Ruby Lee Bilbrey Phipps. She was a graduate of Cumberland County High School in Crossville, TN. She retired from Alice Manufacturing, in Easley, SC.

Carlene was a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church and as her health allowed, she would sing in the choir. That was what she loved most of all, Praising the Lord. She is singing in the that "Heavenly Choir" now.

She is survived by a loving, caring companion, Wallace Gillespie; three children: Donald Anthony Brown (Michelle), Gina Turner Jones, and Astrid Renee Sands (Alan); eight grandchildren: Ashlee Brown, Savanna Boyd, Justin Barrow (Chelsea), Thomas Barrow (Carson), Kelly Sands, Jennifer Sands, Kelslin Browder, and Loribeth Turner; four great-grandchildren: Blair, Mya, Angela, and Afi; and a daughter in law: Nicole Brown; great friends: Wally and Penny Gillespie, Chana Davis, and Jennifer Johnson.

Funeral Service will be on April 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm, Maranatha Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at New Hope Baptist Church, 108 New Hope Rd, Pickens, SC 29671, following the service.
