

Pickens – Charles Lee Rogers, 90, husband of Dorothy Dunning Rogers, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Mr. Rogers was born in Marion, IL, a son of the late Lee Roy and Elsie Rich Rogers. He was transferred from Illinois to Pickens in 1962 by Sangamo (now Schlumberger) where he worked as Senior Applications Engineer for over 40 years. Mr. Rogers traveled internationally for his work including destinations of New Delhi, India, Mexico and throughout the U. S. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Rogers was a graduate of the Great Lakes Naval Station and studied at the Naval Air Station in San Diego. He attended both Mercer University in Macon, GA and the University of Illinois in Champaign. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, The American Legion, and The Society of American Engineers. Golf was his passion and he was a member of The Pickens County Club for 54 years where he served as a board member, and former President of the board. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Rogers, sons, Curtis L. Rogers (Vicki) of Easley and Martin S. Rogers of Fort Huachuca, AZ and daughter, Melinda Gail Rogers of Pickens. Also surviving are grandchildren, Travis Lee Rogers, Bryan Sanford Rogers, Whitney Cline, and great grandchildren, Parris Rogers, Skylar Rogers, Tristyn Rogers, and Autumn Rogers, Jason, Ben, Austin, Emma, Clara, Stella Rogers and Justin, Jackson, and Abigail Cline. The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens on Thursday from 1 to 2:45 PM with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel at 3 PM with The Reverend James McCoy-Bruce officiating.
