

David Weston “Pop” Hiott, 89, loving husband of Sue Churchwell Hiott, went home to be with The Lord on Monday, April 27, 2015. David was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Gary Lander and Eunice Biggerstaff Hiott. He was a graduate of Pickens High School, and since 1934 was a faithful member of Pickens First Baptist Church. David co-owned The Pickens Sentinel Newspaper with his brother Gary for many years. He was a member of The Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The Jaycees. David proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sue Churchwell Hiott of the home, sons, Weston Hiott of Sunset, Marc Hiott of Pickens, and Tim Hiott (Kay) of Easley, and Ben Hiott (Vickie) of Salem, grandchildren, Wes Hiott (Lindsey), and Josh Hiott, Katy Hiott Whitson (Tim), and Karlee Hiott, and great grandchildren, Eva, Hadley, and Hayes Hiott. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Eloise Hiott and Carmen Hiott. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by brothers, Gary, Robert, and John Hiott and sisters, Eulalia Marett and Eunice Scott. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM at Pickens First Baptist Church with a memorial service following at 1 PM in the church sanctuary.
