Donald "Donny" Sims Jr.

Donny was born September 14, 1957, in Greenville County, son of the late Donald Ernest Sims, Sr. and Elizabeth Durham Sims. After graduating high school, Donny began his career in the Railroad industry. He retired as manager after 42 years with the Pickens Railway, and was instrumental in the construction of the Pickens Doodle Trail. Donny enjoyed life with his family and friends. He loved collecting, rebuilding and rock crawling, Ford Bronco's with his son John. Being an avid outdoorsman, Donny enjoyed camping and hiking in the Smoky Mountains (Deep Creek), bear and coon hunting, and taking his boat out on the lake. Donny was a member of Secona Baptist Church, and the Joyful Hearts Sunday School class.

Loving and devoted Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, and Friend. He leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Tracey Kelley Sims; two children, Melissa Flynn (Coleman) and John Sims (Jessica); two sisters, Sandy Beck (Jerry) and Janice Pappas (Bill), and one brother, Steve Beasley (Sheila). Donny also leaves behind to cherish his memory, his six wonderful grandchildren, Carson, Collin, Case, and Connor Flynn, Bryson and Meredith Gracelyn Sims.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 6, 2021, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Bevill officiating. A committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
