

Mrs. Frances Elizabeth McAdams Durham, 93, of Pickens and wife of the late Fred Durham, entered into rest on Wednesday October 11, 2017, at Cannon Memorial Hospital. Born on September 18, 1924, in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Virginia Frances McWhite McAdams. Mrs. Durham had a kind, supportive and generous soul. She loved spending time with “her” children. For 28 years, she enjoyed serving meals to the students of Pickens High School before retiring in 2005. She attended every sports event that her children and grandchildren were a part of, including out of town games. As for herself, she was a sports fanatic. The Clemson Tigers, ATL Braves, and most important, the PHS Volleyball team. Mrs. Durham also cooked at Camp McCall for many years. She loved listening to Gospel music, and in the 1940s she and her sister “The Sunshine Sisters”, would sing Gospel songs on the radio. She enjoyed word search puzzles and was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church. Surviving are her two daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Dill and Bobbie Whittaker; six grandchildren, Jodi D. Nerret (Jeff), Amanda D. Floto (Chris), Heather D. Misenheimer (Quentin), Kristen M. Whittaker, Torin R. Whittaker (Kelli) and Ty A. Whittaker (Dianne) and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Durham was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 15, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens with the Reverend Brian Hester officiating. The family will be at the home of the daughter, Bobbie Whittaker.
