George "Don" Donald Moore

Don was born December 11, 1928, in Greer, SC to the late George and Annie Lou Hogan Moore. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Secona Baptist Church in Pickens. At church, Don was a part of numerous committees, including serving as a Deacon and teaching the Junior Boy's Sunday School class. He was the co-founder of Moore Brothers Oil Company in Pickens and served as Chairman Board of Directors for Cannon Memorial Hospital when it was first constructed. In his spare time, Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don has served as Pickens City Councilman, and volunteered as a Pickens firefighter for many years.

Surviving are his son, Jerry Moore (Cynthia), daughter Susan Rutherford (Donald), six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Don was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Fannie Reece and brother, Arthur Lee Moore.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Secona Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Bevill officiating. The committal service will follow the services at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
