Gerald J. Holcombe

Gerald Oliver Holcombe Pickens, South Carolina Gerald Oliver Holcombe, age 82, husband of Patricia Ferguson Holcombe, passed away Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Holcombe was born in Oconee County, in the Jocassee area, a son of the late Ollie Patterson and Preston Oliver Holcombe. Mr. Holcombe was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. He was retired after 26 years with the South Carolina Wildlife (DNR). He was also a cattle farmer for many years. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, one daughter; Sharon Holcombe Finley (Ben),of Pickens, one son; Tom Holcombe (Rita) of Easley, one sister; Reba Stancell of Salem, two brothers; Derrell Holcombe (Dorothy) of Salem, Charles Holcombe (Judy) of Walhalla and six grandchildren; Whitney Holcombe (Jessica) and Haden Holcombe of Easley, Lauren Finley Brady (Jeremy), Tillman Finley, Cullen Finley, and Preston Finley of Pickens. Mr. Holcombe was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Wilma Stewart and Ray Holcombe. Visitation Friday, October 31st, 2014 from 6:00- 8:00 PM at Dillard’s Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:00 PM Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 with burial in the church cemetery. Grandsons as pallbearers, and members of the South Carolina DNR as Honorary Escorts. Services conducted by Rev. Rick Hayes and Rev. Bob Dickard. Memorials may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, 336 Mountain View Church Road, Six Mile, SC 29682 or to one’s choice. The family will be at the home.
