

Grace Moody Cloer, age 91, passed from this life May 7, 2016 on Mother’s Day weekend. Born on the Moody Farm in East Laporte, North Carolina, on the Tuckaseegee River, November 11, 1924, she was the second child of Bonnie and Weaver Moody. Grace attended Glenville High School in Jackson County, North Carolina, but missed graduation when she eloped her last year on December 29, 1940, to Walhalla, South Carolina, to marry Carl T. Cloer, Sr. They enjoyed 56 years together. Grace was a volunteer and member of Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Pickens, SC. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Exercise Group, The Cane-anites. She and her husband were members of Red Hill Baptist Church in Pickens, where she was very active with Baptist Women. Grace was a gourmet cook of wild fish and game. She loved camping, hiking, and sweet fellowship with her family. In addition to her husband, Carl T., Sr., and her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Fred Moody, and a sister, Lucy Moore. Surviving are three sons and their families, Nat and Bobi Cloer of Seneca, Tom and Elaine Cloer of Pickens, and Michael and Tebra Cloer of Rocky Mount, NC; seven grandchildren, Thad Cloer (Nina) of Seneca, Clayton Cloer (Linda), of Orlando, Fla., Tom Cloer lll (Wanda) of Clemson, Shana Cloer Newton of Pickens, Anna Cloer Jabali (Steve), of Raleigh, NC, Jacob Cloer (Melissa), and Aaron Cloer (Erin) of Rocky Mount, NC; and thirteen great grandchildren: Gabrielle, Alexandra, Brandon, Christian, Dylan, Ryan, Michael, Gideon, Silas, Mary Grace, Sophia, Judah Cloer and Harvest Wolf Newton. The family will receive friends at Red Hill Baptist Church in Pickens on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 1 to 3:00 PM and funeral services will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary with Pastor Jeremy Merck, and her sons and grandsons officiating.
