Hovie M. Smith

Mr. Smith was born on May 18, 1932 to the late Edward R. and Cornelia Nix Smith. He worked in the textile industry and was a member and Deacon at Antioch Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by two sons: Hovie Randall Smith (Jill) and David Joe Smith (Melissa), both of Pickens; two daughters: Cathy Gail Simmons (Norman) and Nancy Keith (Ken), both of Pickens; eight grandchildren: Robyn Dodgens (Keith), Chad Keith (Audrey), Brent Simmons (Susie), Jordan Radford, C.J. Radford, Andrea Radford, Carrie Holder (Clayton) and Derek Smith; thirteen great-grandchildren: Abbey Dodgens, Emma Dodgens, Hannah Simmons, Haley Simmons, Jackson Keith, Carolina Keith, Jake Holder, Luke Holder, Evan Holder, Joanna Holder, Rachel Holder, Zeke Holder, and Mason Radford; and a brother-in-law: Melvin Bradley.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister: Velma Bradley.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, a private burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens. Once current restrictions are lifted, a public memorial service will be announced and will be held at Antioch Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 721 Eastatoee Creek Rd, Sunset, SC 29685.
