James was born on November 17, 1937 to the late James and Martha Melton. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1956, then went on to serve 10 years in the National Guard. James was employed in the textile industry for 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
Mr. Melton is survived by one daughter: Amy McGuinn; one granddaughter: Lindsay Elizabeth McGuinn; one grandson: Jacob Thomas McGuinn.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 31 years: Sarah Moore Melton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2022 in the Chapel at Dillard Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
