

He was born June 9th, 1939 in Greenville and was the son of the late Jule and Ollie Ballenger Skelton of Dacusville. He had a passion for picking his guitar, making music and was an avid Horseman. He started playing guitar when he was a young boy. He never met a stranger and loved to tell stories, they always sounded like a song when he was telling them. He was a cowboy song writer and a storyteller all his life.
Lonnie Skelton retired from Falcon Industries.
He was predeceased by his Loving wife Janice Skelton of 64 years, and he was the last surviving brother of thirteen siblings: seven brothers and 5 sisters.
He is survived by his son Danny (Kim) Skelton of Purcell, Oklahoma and daughter Rhonda (Mark) Burton of Easley, South Carolina; six loving grandchildren: Daniel Skelton (Nancy) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Autumn Sosebee (Chris) of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Joshua Starnes (Shea) of Norman, Oklahoma, Cody McClain of Pickens, South Carolina, Ryan Burton of Easley, South Carolina and Dana Cunningham of Charleston, South Carolina. Also surviving are nine precious and loving great grandchildren. He survived by a special collection of Nieces and Nephews whom he loved dearly.
A visitation for Lonnie will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, South Carolina 29671. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Lonnie will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial park.
