Linda Chastain Tate

Linda Chastain Tate, 70, of Pickens, South Carolina, passed away on January 16, 2026, following complications from COPD and the flu. She was surrounded by the love of her family, to whom she devoted her life.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milton Larry Tate; her parents, Jimmy Chastain and Blanche Chastain; her sisters, Jessie Green and Mary Anders; and her brother, Wallace Chastain.

She is survived by her children: Dawn Tate Smith (husband Jim Smith), Milton Carter “Bo” Tate (wife Marybeth Tate), and Larry Brent Tate. Linda was a proud and devoted grandmother to ten grandchildren: Elizabeth Paul (Curtis), Jade Tate (Muza), Lynzee Tate (Jacob), Nikki Greenway (Zak), Michael Smith (Mariedy), Kat Smith, Dean Smith, Rigdon Smith, Emerald Tate, and Jazmayn Tate. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Zoey Scuccimarra, Izzy Morton, Angel Paul, Bradley Carswell, Brandon Carswell, and Brody Carswell. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Chappell and Evelyn Hawkins.

Linda fought passionately. When she loved you, you knew it. She delighted in playing games and making believe with her children and grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter and imagination. She was feisty but fun, full of personality and humor laced with a tough edge. She was fiercely honest and unapologetically herself. That fire was part of what made her unforgettable.

Linda’s legacy lives on in the family she loved so fiercely and the stories that will be told for generations. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We will be celebrating her life and legacy on what would have been her 71st birthday, January 19th, 2026.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funerals and Cremation, located at 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC 29671, on January 19, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm.

A committal service will follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 3450 Table Rock Rd, Pickens, SC 29671.

The family will be at the home.
