

Pickens – Margaret Duncan Gilstrap, 87, widow of Richard Benson “R.B.” Gilstrap, passed from this life on Sunday October 30, 2016. Mrs. Gilstrap was born in Six Mile a daughter of the late Virgil B. and Etta Ross Duncan. A local entrepreneur, she retired in 1992 as owner and operator of Pickens Flower Shop for over 40 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, former president of Pickens Women’s Club, former state president of Arts and Crafts GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs), a member of Easley Business and Professional Women, and Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include her son Richard B. Gilstrap, III (Ann) of Stuarts Draft, VA, her daughter Vicki Gilstrap Porter of Pickens, grandchildren Ben Porter (Alison), R.B. “Rick” Gilstrap, IV (Heather), Drew Porter, and Maggie Shelley (Matt), and great grandchildren Robert Holden Porter, Clara Ann Shelley, and twins Victoria Margaret Gilstrap and Annora Rose Gilstrap. Also surviving are brothers Johnny W. Duncan of Clemson, and Ronnie B. Duncan of Six Mile and her beloved Boston Terrier, Pug. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gilstrap was preceded in death by siblings Sara D. Gantt, Helen D. Towe, Buddy Joe Duncan, Richard Elmer Duncan, Harvey Leonard Duncan, and Wade Andrew Duncan. The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home on Friday November 4, 2016, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM with funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
