Mary Sue was born to James Robert and Mary Carolyn Johnston Day on October 10, 1946 in Lancaster, SC. She graduated from Winthrop University in 1968 and retired from Clemson Extension Service. Mary Sue was a member of Pickens Presbyterian Church. She loved to create and appreciate beautiful crafts, but her true passion was quilting. She was a member of UpCountry Quilters Guild. She was a loving friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother: James Johnston Day. Mary Sue was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 2pm, in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, on Monday, October 2, 2023.
