

Ollie Mae Atkinson Allgood, 92, wife of the late Frank B. Allgood, went home to be with The Lord, Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Mrs. Allgood was born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Artie Dillard Atkinson. A lifelong educator, she was retired from The Pickens County School District where she taught at A. R. Lewis Elementary School. She taught school in four states as her husband’s military duty required; South Carolina, Iowa, Virginia and Maryland. She was a member of Secona Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a volunteer for the Cannon Hospital Auxiliary for several years. In her younger years she did missionary work in the Philippine Islands while her husband was serving in the U.S. Navy there. Survivors include her son, Greg Allgood (Darlene) of Anderson, her daughter, Frankie Summey (Marion) of Easley, and grandchildren, Linde S. Summey, Caleb Allgood, and Joshua Allgood. Mrs. Allgood was the last surviving member of her immediate family which included three brothers and five sisters. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 PM Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with funeral services following at 3:30 PM with The Reverend Gerald Roper officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the loving and caring staff of The Foothills Retirement Community, The Willows of Easley and Lutheran Hospice. A very special thank you to Margaret Barr, Marie Belcher, Edith Parham and Bernice Linville for their love and compassionate care of our Mother. The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Marion Summey in Easley.
