Mrs. Harrelson was born in Johnsonville, SC on October 17, 1923 to the late Charles Edward "Brewster" Thomas and the late Annis Viola Watts Thomas Ard Brown. She loved to read her bible, and her faith was of the utmost importance to her. She loved her church, Oak Crest Baptist in Greenville, SC where she was a member for over 60 years and read through the bible numerous time throughout the years. In her later years of life, Mrs. Harrelson relocated to Aiken, SC with her daughter, and there became a member of Aiken First Baptist Church where she enjoyed contributing to its programs and serving Christ in any way possible. She also loved growing both flowers and plants, and her yard was the envy of most of the neighborhood.

Mrs. Harrelson loved her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at any gathering or celebration. She spent her life as a dedicated homemaker to her family, and upon her family leaving the home, she worked for the Monaview School Cafeteria, the Westside Nursing Facility as Head nutritionist, and volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Harrelson is survived by her two sons: Henry L. "H.L." Harrelson, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Easley, SC and William Rodger Harrelson (Judy) of Statesville, NC; and a daughter: Melinda Harrelson Zipf (Carl, III "Bud") of Aiken, SC. She also leaves behind her many friends, family, and extended families which include: her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; along with her church families at both Oak Crest Baptist Church of Greenville and Aiken First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrelson was preceded in death by her four brothers: Cecil, John, Hillie Joe, and David "Wattie" Thomas; and two sisters: Eleanor Morgan and Minnie Lola Thompson.
