Ray Wood

Ray was born on July 18 1948, in Oconee County, SC, son of the late Dorsey and Mary Edna Wood.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Joyce Wood; one son, Danny Wood (Laura); two daughters, Tammy Phillips (Matthew) and Christy Wood, and one brother, Calvin Wood. Ray also leaves behind to cherish his memory, six grandchildren, Ryan, Ariel, Isaac, Cameron, Aliyah and Brooklyn and twelve great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Jackson, Kinsley, Naddia, Swaylyn, Emma, Katherine, Joseph, Karleigh, Liam, Mattie and Aubrey. Ray was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Chasity Roach and Sabrina Wood; two sisters, Betty Donald and Jeanette Wood, and three brothers, Tommy Wood, Ronnie Wood, and Boyd Wood.

Ray was a diligent man with a caring heart. He was currently employed with Oconee Memorial Park, serving many families with care and compassion, since the early 2000s. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed fixing old cars, fishing and working around his yard. Ray was a "country man" who never met a stranger and made many friends in his lifetime. His greatest joy above everything, was his children and grandchildren. He was a proud Daddy and Papa Ray and he loved his family.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the Oconee Memorial Park mausoleum chapel. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel with Reverend Peggy Gambrell officiating.

The family will be at the home of Joyce Wood.
