

Ruth Chapman Aiken, 89, wife of the late Verdell Aiken went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca. Mrs. Aiken was born in Easley, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Roe and Alice Holcombe Chapman.
She was a charter member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Aiken was a homemaker until all her children were in school. She retired after many years in food service at Pickens Middle School, and spent many summers as a staff member at McCall RA Camp.
Survivors include one son; Scott Aiken of Pickens, SC; seven daughters, Carolyn A. Ellenburg (Larry) of Pickens, SC, Martha A. Duncan (Ronnie) of Six Mile, SC, Mary Finley of Kirkland, WA, Frankie A. Masters (Rick) of Six Mile, SC, Phyllis A. Parsons (Joel) of Pickens, SC, and Lisa Singleton (Hal) of Pickens, SC, Paula A. Rivers (Cameron); eight grandsons, Eric Ellenburg, Bryan Duncan, Matthew Parsons, Brent Moore, Todd Moore, Trey Singleton, Vic Singleton, and Coleman Rivers; and six granddaughters, Ami Davidson, Andrea Brown, Allison Mickler, Sara Rhindhart, Kenna Dillard, and Anna Rivers; twenty three great grandchildren; one sister, Cleon Durham, and one brother, Willie Stansell (Ann).
Mrs. Aiken was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Verdell Aiken; one granddaughter, Lori Ellenburg; two brothers, William Chapman and B.D. Chapman; and two sisters, Blanche Kinsey and Edna Baker.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may made be made to Cove Creek Baptist Church, 896 Meece Mill Road, Pickens, South Carolina 29671 and/or to the Cottingham House, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, South Carolina 29672.
She was lovingly cared for at the Cottingham House in Seneca and the family would like to extend their gratitude.
The family will be at their respective homes.
