Shirley Lance Smith

Pickens – Shirley Lance Smith, 75, wife of Verner Smith went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Mrs. Smith was born in Rosman, NC a daughter of Cleo Galloway Lance of Raleigh, NC and the late Howard A. Lance. She was employed with Ryobi Motor Products in Pickens as a data entry clerk and inventory control clerk and later worked as a receptionist at Dillard Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was a member of Mile Creek Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher and lead the junior choir at Cannon Mountain Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Verner Smith of the home, her mother, Cleo Lance of Raleigh and daughters, Pamela Denise Smith (Jimmy) of Murrell’s Inlet and Crystal Lynn Smith Dyar (Tim) of Central and her sister, Janet Warner (Lee) of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Ryan Verner Smith, Blake Dyar, Brandon Dyar and Jacki Michelle Smith and great grandchildren, Lyric Alexandria Grate, A. J. Grate, Andre Grate, Ella Smith, and Nicholas Smith. In addition to her father, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a brother, Howard Douglas Lance. The family will receive friends Friday, November 18, 2016 at Dillard Funeral Home from 12 to 1:30 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel.
