Major William F. Rivers, USAF Ret. Bill Rivers, 78, husband of Patricia Cameron “Patti” Rivers, passed from this life on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Bill was born in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late Jesse James Rivers and the late Elma Galloway Rivers. He was a graduate of The University of South Carolina where he played football. He was retired from The U. S. Air Force as a navigator where he flew 175 plus missions over Viet Nam. A local businessman, Bill owned and operated Holly Springs Grocery and also operated a real estate company. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patti, of the home, a son, Cameron Rivers (Paula) of Pickens and daughters, Vicki D. Rivers of Sunset and Mary K. Rivers of Pickens, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Franklin Rivers (Dot) of Easley. A memorial service will be held 3 PM Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church with The Reverend James McCoy-Bruce officiating.
