Mrs. Ada Jewell Brooks

Ada Jewell Brooks, 90, of Jesse, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born February 14, 1925 in Keyrock, WV, she was the eldest daughter of the late Harrison Jewell Sr., and Virgie Halsey Jewell’s family of eleven children. Mrs. Brooks was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and a faithful member of Guyandotte Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Wiley “Stacy” Brooks, Jr.; a daughter, Judy Stewart; and five siblings. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Steve Brooks of Princeton and Danny Brooks and his wife, Paula of Jesse; a brother, David Jewell of Pineville, LA; four sisters, Irene Laxton of Pineville, Zelma Stewart and husband, Homer of Bluewell, Barbara Brown and husband, Horace of Kopperston and Peggy Mullens of Jesse; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Guyandotte Baptist Church Building Fund.
