
Freddie Garrett, 74, of Pineville passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 following a short illness. Born November 15, 1940 at Bud, WV, He was the son of the late Marvin K. Garrett and Eloise Hash Garrett. Freddie was a member of the Rock Castle Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He served his country in the United State Marine Corp from 1959-1963. Freddie retired after many years of service from Eastern Associated Coal Company. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, going to church and spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Garrett. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carol Anderson Garrett of the residence 2 sons, Kevin Garrett and his wife, Robin of Princeton John Garrett and his wife, Jamette of Princeton A daughter, Mary Cathryn Cook and her husband, Michael of Pineville 2 brothers, Donnie Garrett of Pineville and Gilmer Garrett of Louisiana A sister, Henrietta Ellison of Pineville 6 grandchildren, Bo, Baylee, and Ian Garrett, Taylor Garrett Rife, Garrett Mitchell and Caroline Cook 1 great-grandchild, Jaxon Declan Garrett Mother-In-Law Mary Anderson of Pineville He is also survived by several nieces and nephews A celebration of Freddie’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Rock Castle Baptist Church with Rev. Evan Arkell and Rev. Donald “Doc” Adkins. The family will receive friends from Noon until time of the service at the church. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny The family will receive friends from noon on Saturday until the time of the service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations of sympathy may be made in Freddie’s name to Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
