
Martha Jane Smith Cook, 104, of Pineville passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Wyoming Nursing and Rehab, New Richmond following a short illness. Born August 1, 1910 at Woosley, WV she was the daughter of the late John L. Smith and Mary Sizemore Smith. Martha was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed driving her car to visit family and friends and visiting families at the funeral home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ozwald Cook; a son, Ozwald “Ozzie” Cook, Jr.; two brothers, Andrew J. “Buster” Smith and Calvin Smith; two sisters, Laura Morgan and Bessie Scott Smith and two grandsons, Ozzie Cook, III and Robert Mitch Cook. Survivors include her nephew and guardian, Johnny Smith of Clear Fork 2 grandchildren, Catherine Ann Hawkins of Knoxville, TN and Jeffrey H. Cook of Lenoir City, TN She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Martha’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2015 in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Evan Arkell officiating. Burial will follow at the Walker Family Cemetery Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from noon on Sunday until the time of the service.
