On June 12, 2021 Alicia was met by her best friend TJ on the rainbow bridge. Alicia was a noble animal lover, volunteer, rescuer and dog handler. She worked locally as a volunteer at Animal Friends in Pittsburgh PA. Those who knew Alicia knew how generous and caring she was especially when it came to the welfare of animals. Alicia worried about the homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused ones the most. Her ability was to get the most vulnerable terrified dogs to open up and trust her and she did just that.

Her passion for caring for both people and fur babies was evident in every waking moment. She was beautiful inside and out and had a loving personality. She had an extraordinary heart, wonderful smile and compassionate spirit. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. As a young child and with her parents as role models, Alicia grew to love the shelter animals, especially the dogs. She began volunteering on her own the day after her 13th birthday. By her 18th birthday, she had become an avid dog walker and voice for dogs who were most challenged. In college, she even advocate for pets on campus. Alicia's passion for the animals has always been visible, vibrant and clear.

Alicia was a graduate of North Hills High School and a graduate of Allegheny College. She was working as a customer service representative for Accredo Specialty Pharmacy.

She leaves behind her loving supportive parents who took immense pride in all of her accomplishments; Her father William Drosendaul (fiancé Sharon Faulkner), mother Karen Grant (John Murdock). She will be missed by her grandparents' Jon and Aileen Drosendahl, her aunts and uncles Beth and Mike Zak, Mathew and Bethany Drosendahl and Barbara and Dwayne Colvin.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Brian and Joanne Grant and her loving fur baby companion TJ (pictured with her).

The Alicia Drosendahl Summer Camp Fund has been established to honor Alicia's life long passion for sheltered animals and to encourage that same passion in other young animal lovers. Alicia's Fund will also underwrite an engaging and educational experience for all campers. Donations to support the fund are welcomed at any time. Animal friends may choose to fundraise for this fund to prolong is solvency and ensure future support for the summer camping program at Animal Friends.

Please bring a donated item for Animal Friends or Biggies Bullies; All donations and items will go to Animal Friends and Biggies Bullies in memory of Alicia. https://www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org/ http://www.biggiesbullies.com/

Friends and Family are welcomed at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15237 412-364-4444 on June 26th, 2021 from 1PM to 5PM

Thinking of everyone who knew and loves Alicia. She was a wonderful, compassionate young woman who made a huge impact on so many lives, especially the dogs at Animal Friends. She was a volunteer everyone knew and I always admired that she found her passion for animals so early in life. It was a joy to see her return every year to help with summer camp as she not only helped manage the puppy chaos, but served as a role model for the younger students. She will be missed by so many and I know I'll continue to think of her often.

Karen, I remember meeting Alicia when you would bring your dog to be groomed.
I think her smile got me from the beginning. I enjoyed her talking about the drum line at North Hills and how she wanted to go to Allegheny college.
I also remembered how you talked about her and TJ.
She was such a lovely girl. I am so very very sorry for your loss.
My heart goes out to you and your family

I remember you talking about your daughter, and how much you loved her. I can't imagine the pain your family is suffering right now, but our thoughts are with you.

Alicia came out to see our dog Harry on several occassions. Harry wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the care and love of people like her. I didn't get to spend alot of time with her but enough that she touched my heart. She served as an inspiration to those around her through her care, love and understanding of the animals in her care. You could see how much she enjoyed doing what shat she loved by the smile on her face. She made a difference in the lives of many dogs. I am reminded of the story of a man observing a boy throwing star fish back into the ocean. The man said: There are thousands of starfish on the beach. You can't make a difference. The boy picked up a starfish with a smile and threw it back into the ocean and said: I made a differce to that one. Thank You Alicia for making a difference in Harry's life!

Karen and Will, my deepest sympathies on the tragic loss of Alicia. I will always remember her helping at teen camp, sitting on the floor inside an x-pen of wiggling puppies, happily keeping them in line with her calm compassion. It was clear from her time at the shelter not only how much she loved helping the dogs but how much she loved being there with you and sharing that experience together. I am thinking of you at this difficult time.

I was so saddened to hear of Alicia's passing. I will forever have fond memories of seeing her walking the dogs and spending alone time with them in the grass and on the benches in front of the shelter. She had such a passion for animals that she carried with her in all aspects of her life - she even coordinated a pet food drive with one of her employers to help the Chow Wagon. She was such a lovely soul and will be deeply missed by her Animal Friends family - 2 and 4 legged, alike!

Karen and Will, my heart breaks for you. I feel like I watched Alicia grow up at Animal Friends. She was 13 or so when you both started volunteering there? She was such a kind soul. My favorite memories are pulling into the shelter and seeing her sitting on the front lawn with Squiggy. I’m so sorry.

I was so saddened when I heard the news today of Alicia’s passing. I never had the opportunity to meet Alicia face-to-face but I knew as a virtual coworker she was a kind, sincere and compassionate young lady. She will be missed. Rest easy

I would always see her in passing, leash in hand, eager to get to those she loved the most.

I can't imagine how hard this must be for you both.

The world has lost a sweet soul.

You are in our prayers,
Beth and Ray Mauder
