

Angeline (Melodia) Mooney, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2016. Angie was born in Detroit, MI on February 8, 1922 to Angelina and Antonino Melodia, and moved to Pittsburgh when she was 10.
She was preceded in death by her husband William (Jack) Mooney and loving siblings, Ann Colibas, Jennie Kranak, Bessie Carey, Mario and Benny Melodia. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Ralph) Papania, granddaughters Amy Jo (Dan) Stavnezer and Lisa (Jono) Fortier, Dana (Phil) Bachman, Jeannine (Bill) Schirnhofer and great-grandchildren Ben, Max, Eli, Lucy, Phillip, Alex, Sydney and Peyton, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Angie served in WWII as a Navy W.A.V.E. Her years of service, spent mostly in Washington D.C., were a highlight of her life’s experiences where she made friendships that lasted her lifetime. She went on to work at the VA hospital in Oakland, PA as the surgical room secretary until her retirement in 1978. Following this, she spent 32 warm years in Tampa, FL enjoying the sunshine, theater, new friendships, playing cards and a happy marriage with Jack. Throughout her life, Angie enjoyed reading, music and supported the arts.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm in the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc. 1032 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp., 412-364-4444. Angie will be buried in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA Friday, March 25.
