Jo, Katie, Evan, & family,

As I continue to remember Carl - I know it will always be with a smile! We had so many hilarious moments... One of which I will share with you now. It was my husband's birthday & I decided to get him something especially creative!  Jo & Carl were there for dinner & when it came time to open presents,  I could hardly wait to see Stan's face as I presented him with a gift that, without question, he would love!  I got him a Classic License plate & was quite pleased with myself that I          had managed complete that process all on my own! 

 As Stan opened it, Carl asked him what it was & when Stan told him a Classic Plate, Carl burst out laughing as he announced at the top of his lungs: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STAN... YOU CAN NO LONGER DRIVE YOUR CAR AFTER DUSK OR LEAVE THE STATE!!!! I considered dying of embarrassment as I knew none of those 'details'... &, meanwhile,  Carl started laughing even harder!  In fact,  he had tears running down his face & was rocking back & forth in the chair that was NOT a rocking chair as he tried to gain control of himself.   I was so upset I could hardly breathe, Stan didn't know what to say, Carl responded like it was the all time funniest thing he had ever witnessed & Jo was caught somewhere in the midst of all the trauma. 

As I look back now ( over the MANY decades) Carl's uncontrollable laughter is probably what saved the night... In my mind I can STILL hear that laugh as though it was yesterday... & that is how I  will choose to remember him - with a smile & his special brand of laughter

JoAnn, Katie, Evan and family, 
Carl will always have a special place in our hearts.  Our lives were richer because he was a part of it since 1972, and our lives will forever be poorer now that he is gone.

Carl was the spirit at the center of the Hiland community.  The Miller home was the center of the social life of that community.  Carl could always be counted on to get the work done when there was a need.  I was blessed to be his friend.  Jim Bell

The Grace that God chose to bestow on mankind, like a precious work of art, is displayed in the hearts of His children.  Carl, thru every facet of his life, was a masterpiece worthy of the signature of God.  In knowing, loving and being loved by him in return, we have experienced God's handiwork.

Evan & Lauren & family . . . The DeRiggi's (John & Linda (Mama D), John & Mindy, & Tony all express our sincere sympathy to you at this time of your loss of your father.  John and Mindy would be at your side tonight if they were not in Italy.  We would as well, but are unable because of a prior commitment this evening.  We will say a silent prayer tomorrow during the funeral service for your Dad and for your family.

JoAnn, prayers to you and your family for strength, peace and healing during the next coming days and in the future. As you remind us, know that God is with you, now and forever!

Thoughts and prayers to your family. Though I hadn't seen Mr. Miller in many years, I always remembered what a caring and loving man he was to not only family and friends but strangers as well. He made the world a better place!
