Charles J. "Boo" Merlino

Charles J. “Boo” Merlino, 86 of Summer Hill, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Wanda A. (Fevig) Merlino; loving father of Charles “Gil” (Renee) Merlino; loving and doting grandfather of Lauren Elizabeth Merlino and great grandfather of Chase Timothy Martuseavich. He is also survived by a brother, William Merlino and a sister, Josephine Puccio, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Merlino and a sister Marie Raimondi. Boo was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served in Korea. Prior to his retirement, he was a longtime employee of the City of Pittsburgh, most notably with the Pittsburgh Zoo. He had a love of stock car racing, having even built two cars from scratch. In his free time he loved to cheer on the Pirates and fly model airplanes. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the HP Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy, Ross Twp., 412-364-4444, where a blessing service will be held Wednesday at 11am.
