Donna A. (Anderson) Stephens, age 84 of Glenshaw, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2018 after a prolonged illness. Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Norris L. Stephens; her brother, Herbert H. Anderson and sister, Clara D. Anderson. She leaves behind to treasure her memory her children Catherine (Simon) Richardson and Nathaniel H. Stephens, a sister-in-law, a niece and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 28th, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township, (412-364-4444). A celebration of Donna's life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 10 AM. Donna had a life story that should be recognized. She attended Peabody High School where she advanced her skills on the Cello and pursued a BFA degree in Music at Carnegie Institute of Technology graduating in 1955. It was there she met Norris, her beloved husband. They became members of the East Liberty Presbyterian Church where Norris later served for many years as Assistant Organist. She worked at WQED-TV as a secretary and also as Editorial Assistant for CMU's alumni magazine. During the 1970's she was an active member of the Tuesday Musical Society performing on the Cello. She also taught private lessons on the Cello at Chatham College. In 1978 she began her work at UPMC's WPIC as senior secretary until she retired in 2013.
As an avid supporter of the arts in Pittsburgh, she was a subscription member of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. She also enjoyed attending shows of the improvisational comedy group, The Amish Monkeys. She loved music of many genres, poetry, writing, American Indian and Buddhist Wisdom, box turtles, and keeping pet finches.
