

On Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the age of 76, of Ross Twp., died at his home from natural causes. Born in Erie, PA August 4, 1934, Edward spent most of his youth in Washington, PA and recent winters in Sarasota, FL where he loved playing bocce with his friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Virginia Nowicki Sloan; sons, Joseph Sloan, San Diego, CA and Stephen Sloan, Pittsburgh, PA; daughters, Valerie de Stefanis, Ridgefield, CT and Maureen Cable, Pittsburgh, PA; brother James Sloan, Monessen, PA; sister, Harriet Maher, Charleston, SC. He cherished his seven grandchildren Azalia Hiroe and Joel Musaka Sloan, Fuji Shi, Japan, Chelsea Sloan, Greenville, SC, Emily and Nico de Stefanis, Ridgefield, CT, Andrew and Grant Cable, Beaver, PA, and four great-grandchildren. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College with a BS degree in 1956. He is a U.S. Army veteran that served from 1952-1959. Edward loved the arts and traveled throughout Europe with his family. He was instrumental in upscale residential developments such as Kinvara, McKnight East, and Sewickley Heights Manor working as General Manager for Minnock Construction.
