
With her loving family at her side, Eileen (Matthews) Winkler, lost her courageous battle to breastcancer and entered her eternal rest on February 17, 2011. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1941 to the late David and Marie (Loomis) Matthews. Beloved wife of Joseph Winkler for 53 years. Loving Mother of Karen (William) Wainwright, Kristine (Donald) Remas,Amy (Keith) Knaus, Susan (Paul) Solinski, Joseph (Denise) Winkler, Jennifer (Michael) Horan, David (Amy) Winkler. Grandmother of Emily, Benjamin, and Abigail Wainwright; Joseph and Elizabeth Remas; Amanda, Sarah, Holly, and Matthew Knaus; Joey, Jacob, and Olivia Winkler; Nathaniel and Connor Horan; Greta, Alana, and David Winkler. Sister of Linda (Samuel)Prepelka. Sister-in -law of Dolores Ebbert (Walter, deceased), Barbara Fischer, and Juanita
(Ronald) Fischer. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Eileen was the most caring and giving person, always having an open heart and mind to help anyone in need.She was an active member of Holy Spirit Parish in Millvale; having served in the roles of Eucharistic Minister, Wedding Coordinator, Treasurer of Christian Mothers, and Parish Council.
For many years, she was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Millvale. Eileen will always be remembered as being a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. Family was of most importance to Eileen. Eileen enjoyed gardening, walks on the beach in Florida, shopping,cooking, knitting, and her many friendships. She will be sadly missed.
Friends received Saturday and Sunday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc. 1014 California Ave., Avalon 412-766-5600. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10am at Holy Spirit Parish, Millvale. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest contributions to Holy Spirit Parish, 60 Farragut St, Millvale, PA 15209 or to your favorite charity.
