Frederick Andrew “Andy” Fedor, age 81, of Ben Avon, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 9, 2021 with his family by his side. Andy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Fedor, his son Andrew Fedor, his daughter, Rachel Lubbert and her spouse, Jason, as well as his grandchildren, Kersten, Samantha, Troy and Max Lubbert. Andy is also survived by his sisters Helen “Tiny” Mozeik, Nancy Marquez and many nieces and nephews. He is the brother of the late Jesse Fedor, the late Michael “Mickey” Fedor, and the late Myrtle Fedor.
You can tell a lot about a person by what they loved, and Andy loved the Lord, his family and his country, not to mention a good donut and a cup of hot coffee. A hands-on grandfather, his face would light up when his grandchildren walked into the room.
Andy was an avid storyteller and made everyone laugh. From his time as a radioman in the Navy to his career at US Steel and a post retirement job at Allegheny Plastics, Andy always figured out a way to get the job done. He loved doing projects on his house and for his family. He said he could do just about anything as long as he had the right tools. A good pair of vise grips were his tool of choice. In fact, he was running a chain saw and swinging a hammer at his daughter’s house just a few weeks ago. And if someone needed him, he would drop everything and drive around the world and back again.
Christmas was one of his favorite times of year and to celebrate, he spent days putting up an elaborate train display for his children and grandchildren. He loved to string lights on his house and illuminate the neighborhood with a manger scene and snowmen shining with Christmas cheer.
Andy loved Christmas because he loved Jesus. His favorite verse was I Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
Now Andy is in heaven with Jesus so his story is really just beginning, but let’s close this earthly chapter with a few words of advice from Andy’s journal.
“Treat everything that happens as a lesson to be learned.”
“A man whose closest friend is God is a successful person.”
“The greatest rule I’ve learned in life is that God loves me more than I could ever deserve.”
