

Jack Fagen, age 82, of Hampton Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. He was the loving husband of sixty years to Carolyn Ann (Duessel) Fagen. Devoted father of Kathryn DeProspero of Philadelphia, Jeannie Connolly and her husband Shaun, of Wexford and John Fagen and his partner Vanessa, of Columbus, Ohio; proud grandfather, also known as "Ba" to his grandchildren, of Damon (Denise) and Bryan DeProspero, Jack(Danielle), Ted (Jenn) and Ben Connolly and great-grandfather of Noah DeProspero; brother of William and Robert Fagen and also survived by many nieces and nephews. His love of family was apparent at all family gatherings especially the numerous celebrations held at Rico's Restaurant. Jack will also be forever be missed by his four legged furry friends, Rocco and Roo.
Jack served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn (Duessel) in the winter of 1958. With his entrepreneurial and competitive spirit, Jack opened his first business in 1958, which provided the stepping stone for success in numerous ventures throughout his life. From Hard Materials to Busy Beaver to Fagens Lumber Company, Jack lived his passion for the industry daily. He always stated he would never retire and he kept his word still managing an office building in Brooktree Park until his final days. His competitive spirit did not end with his professional life. He excelled as an athlete playing tennis and golf, spending many a day enjoying these sports . He won golf and tennis tournaments and was an active member of Wildwood Country Club for the past fifty years.
Most importantly, Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He gave his love to all, heart and soul. A man with a generous nature that contributed much of his time, energy and expertise to others who sought his advise.
Family and friends will be received from 11:30 Am until the time of service at 12 Noon on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 8225 Peebles Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Burial will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations to Jack's church where he had been a member for over fifty years. Many a Sunday morning he was present with his family for weekly worship. Jack is a man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
