Joan Deramo, age 93, of Neville Island, passed away April 4, 2026 from esophageal cancer. Joan was the daughter of Marco and Carmella Palilla. She was the devoted wife of the late Anthony Deramo and the beloved mother of Rose and Susan. She was the loving sister-in-law of the late Victor and Anna D'Eramo, the late Daniel and his surviving wife Marianne Deramo, and the beloved Auntie Joan of cherished nieces and nephews, Lillian (Enzo) Grilli,
Dr. Linda D'Eramo, Thomas D'Eramo, Timothy (Becky) Dermo, Nancy
Krajovic, Paulie Lazos, Stephanie Commack, Mark Lowry and many
great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Joan loved her long-time loyal friends Mary Failor, Mary Rizik Layman, Edith Mazar, Joseph Petry, Darlene Youngworth and Karen and Larry Bunn. She was blessed for many years with kind and helpful neighbors. Many thanks to her hospice nurses Mandi and Mattie and aide Brittany. A special heart-felt thank you to Dr. Linda D'Eramo, who spent countless hours advising and consoling Rose and Susan during Joan's illness.
Joan was always a beautiful, kind and loving woman, but her life drastically changed when she attended a Billy Graham Crusade in 1993, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Her love for Jesus was so strong He became the main focus of her life
Joan's gift of the Spirit was faith. One of her favorite sayings was 'Don't worry, trust Jesus". She enjoyed reading her bible for hours every day. She had a bible tract ministry, leaving and handing out tracts wherever she went. When Joan was eighty, she enjoyed a trip to Israel. Joan was not ashamed of the gospel, sharing her faith with those she knew and met, always explaining that you must accept Jesus as your saviour to get into heaven.
While Joan will be missed here on earth, we have peace knowing she is in glory in heaven, having met her beloved Jesus face to face.
