Joyce Schwer

Joyce will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife, caring mom, and loving grandma. After spending her early years in Maine, Joyce’s family relocated to Florida where she spent the rest of her childhood on her uncle’s dairy farm. As a young adult, she loved singing in the choir and it was there that she met her husband Bob. They were happily married for 65 years and they raised four children together, moving from Florida to Pittsburgh along the way. Joyce loved being a stay-at-home mom and was very involved with Mothers Club at school. Some of Joyce’s fondest memories were visiting her sisters in Florida, vacations at New Smyrna Beach, and traveling across the country and across Europe with Bob. She also loved arts and crafts, playing cards with the family, and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Schwer; children, Thomas (Janice) Schwer, Karen (William) Trackim, Gary (Maria) Schwer, and Douglas (Maggie) Schwer; ten grandchildren; her sister Leona Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 12pm at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 800 Avila Ct, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 with interment to follow at Christ Our Redeemer Northside Cemetery, 204 Cemetery Ln, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
