

Lois Smith peacefully entered the Lord’s presence in her 92nd year on February 7, 2015 in Canon City, Co at Hildebrand Care Center, where she resided. She was born April 11, 1922 in Ligonier, Pa. daughter of Harry and Clarissa Nicely. She was preceded in death, by her husband Ralph K. Smith, Pittsburgh Pa. and brother Dean Nicely of Ligonier, Pa.
Lois graduated from Ligonier High School and Duffs Business College in Pittsburgh, Pa. She worked as a secretary at Simplex Time Recorder for 20 years. She was an active member of Ingomar United Methodist Church for 48 years where she served on various committees, including being a Communion steward for 20 years. She was a devoted volunteer for Easter Seals and loved being with the children. They adored her. Lois moved from Pittsburgh, Pa. to a retirement community in Lancaster, Pa in 1999. She became active as a volunteer there and received the Mildred Bender Award for outstanding service as a resident. In 2008, Lois moved to Canon City, Co.
Lois’s life reflected her trust in Jesus as her Savior. She was a warm and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, community service and most of all spending time with her family. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Kay Houghton and her husband, Donald of Lancaster, Pa, her son, Kenneth Smith and his wife, Barbara of Canon City, Co, 3 grand-daughters and 6 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at H.P.Brandt Funeral Home, Inc, 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Twp., 412-364-4444 on February 14 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the service immediately following.
