Age 87, of McCandless, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully with family, on September 17, 2020.
Mitzie was born to Robert "Doc" and Mildred (Staub) Daugherty on Jun 28, 1933. She grew up on Pittsburgh's North Side and graduated from Oliver High School. In 1957, she married her “Honey Bill” and began one of the world's best love stories. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in July.
Mitzie built an impressive career with U.S. Steel’s Pension Fund department and retired in 1991. She loved to travel; cheered for Pittsburgh sports; and enjoyed bowling, volleyball, cards, and board games of all sorts. She was a snappy dresser. She was a magnificent present-wrapper. And she was an exceptional hostess, cook, and baker.
Mitzie was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She believed in service to others and volunteered for many good causes throughout her life. The only thing she did more often than helping others was visiting the Hallmark store to buy cards for every neighbor, friend, and relation.
Mitzie is survived by her husband William J. Lindner. She was predeceased by her sister Kay Schmidt and is survived by her brother-in-law Albert J. Schmidt and her brother-in-law David Truax. She will be cherished forever by a long list of grateful, lucky nieces and nephews as well as their children and grandchildren. She will be remembered fondly by cousins, care-givers, and friends. Everyone will miss her beautiful soul, kind heart, and joy for life.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m.-Noon at H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Highway. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Perrysville. Please practice COVID-19 mask and social distancing recommendations. In lieu of flowers, donations to dementia or Alzheimer's charities are suggested.
