Nancy S. Steele Hess

Nancy Hess, age 84 of McCandless Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and had a long and distinguished career as a School Social Worker. Mrs. Hess had been a long time resident of Vincentian Villa Independent Living community in McCandless where she had devoted her time to bible study and enjoyed teaching in the craft club which brought her much joy. The family matriarch was a woman of great faith. Mrs. Hess was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hess. Surviving are her children Philip J. of McCandless, Blane E. of Ross Township, Nona H. Kelhofer of Roswell, Georgia and Andrew V. (Elizabeth) of Coppell, Texas . Proud Grandma of Mikayla, Kristina, Justin, Jeremiah, Matthew and Abigail. Sister of Marcia (James) Striebel of Saratoga, California and the late Franklin, E. Blaine and David Steele. Also survived by her loving nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 6-8 PM Monday, February 6, 2017 and 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township (412-364-4444). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Teresa of Avila Church on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10:30 am. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Entombment will follow in Christ Our Redeemer Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations to St. Teresa of Avila Church for their Religious Education Program.
