

Phyllis J. (Purse) Walberg, age 89 of Ross Township, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 26, 2017. She was the wife of the late William Purse and the late Harry Walberg. Her family would also like to acknowledge and thank her devoted companion, Jim Langan, who has remained a constant, by her side. Phyllis was the loving mother of William E. Purse and his wife, Lynn, of Allison Park, Susan Fichter and her husband, John, of Ross Township, Barbara Schaefer and her husband, Dan, of Gibsonia and John Purse and his wife, Jen Salvatore, of Lawrenceville. She was the proud grandmother of Jessica Angelo, Andrew Fichter, Eric Fichter, Natalie Braun, Carly Rippole, Madison Schaefer and Wylie Salvatore; great-grandmother of Olivia and Colton Angelo; sister of Dorothy Hirt, Edward “Bud” Bannon and Josephine Scarfone. Phyllis, worked at Bell Telephone before starting her family and truly became the “Rock Of The Family”, loved deeply by everyone. She shared many gifts of spirit and soul. Her artistic ability shined through with her paintings that family will now treasure. Her energy was strong into her 89th year as she remained an active member of a bowling league. In accordance with Phyllis’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Please join with her family on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 11 Am until 3 Pm where family and friends will gather at Remo’s Restaurant located at 2151 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15209, to celebrate a life well lived. Burial will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Monday, November at 2:00 Pm. Knowing that the month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, her children have suggested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness.
