Rich graduated from North Catholic High School and later from the Ivy School of Professional Art.
Rich served in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain’s Mate during the Vietnam War. He went on to become President of the Laborers International Union of North America and the International District Council.
Rich was married to Donna Irlbacher. He was the son of the late Carl and Dorothy Irlbacher, and brother of the late Patricia Vannelli (Joe) and Carol Schnarrenberger (Tom). He is also survived by brother and sister in laws Richard and Gina Schmidt, the late Marianne and Moe Bianco and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his career and service, Rich had a side career as a lead singer and guitar player for many years, and he also enjoyed fishing.
